And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”
In our culture today we have watered down love to generating a warm, fuzzy feeling in someone’s heart. Discipline needs to be included in our picture of a love relationship between a parent and a child. You will not meet someone more trustworthy than the Lord. Discipline is part of His relationship with those He accepts as His children. It is important to be able to recognize when God may be disciplining you, and that discipline will always be purposed at forming your heart toward obedience to His plan for your life. Pray, ask forgiveness, surrender, and be willing to follow His lead.
